Prerequisites:  Beginner Gourd Class

Class Description: If you have taken our Beginner’s Gourd class or Advanced Gourd class, you are ready to think out-of-the-box and create a gallery-worthy medium sized gourd. We will be learning lots of new techniques and making a gourd that will take you to the next level of the craft. You will learn how to: 

• Make a unique shaped rim — Swoops, curves, variegated rim shapes 
• Use unusual materials to finish your rim — Jute, raffia, colored pine needle, wire, colored sinew. 
• Use decoupage to create visual impact — Modern, traditional or heritage. We will provide various papers, or you can bring some special papers if you would like. Even photographs, tissue paper, magazine pages…the sky’s the limit
• Use of metal tacks and embellishments to adhere to the body of the piece — Furniture tacks, jewels, wire or unusual metal pieces.

Fee: $70 for HWFA members (must have completed orientation at the time of registration) or $80 for non-members, payable by check, cash or credit card 

Materials provided by instructor: Everything, but we encourage you to bring your own personal additions if you would like 

Materials fee: $30 Materials fee payable in cash to teacher first day of class

Supplies brought by students: Whatever you would like to bring for embellishments.
